ALL Decolonising the Primary MFL curriculum

November 7 @ 17:30 - 18:30

We are excited to announce that our first on-line meeting for this Academic Year (2024/25) for our ALL Decolonising the Primary Languages Curriculum will be held on Thursday 7th November 2024 from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m.

Our focus will be deconstructing the content of language teaching and culture in our Primary classroom.

The inspirational Maud Waret will take us through her method for decolonising the content of her lessons, while looking at the resources that she loves to use. Maud is taking a very specific example of a painting featuring the famous Victorian acrobat Mademoiselle La La who featured in Edgar Degas’s paintings. This exhibition was featured at the Portrait Gallery in London during the summer 2024.

This will be an opportunity for us to reflect on the choice of authentic resources for primary pupils and the importance of creating a more equal and inclusive society for the adults of tomorrow.

Far from ‘conspiring to decolonise’ we are uncovering the real history through language learning and teaching.

We invite teachers of all languages to attend. As always, we value your experiences and would love you to share those through dialogues with us, during or after the meeting.

Join us to listen to Maud Waret! She is one of the leading figures in the field of decolonisation the curriculum as a classroom teacher and senior curriculum developer at the National Consortium for Language Education and resource contributor for Pearson.
