The next PHOrum meeting will take place online on Wednesday 27th November 4.00-5.30pm. Ellie Chettle-Cully will give a presentation on ‘We’re all ears – developing listening skills in the primary languages classroom’ and Caroline Hewson on ‘Reading to support creative writing’.
Ellie Chettle Cully – We’re all ears – developing listening skills in the primary languages classroom
Listening skills are vital if children are to become successful language learners but tuning into the sounds and rhythms of a new language can be challenging, particularly for monolingual learners. Full of practical strategies, games and inspiration, this session will explore the many ways that we can empower our pupils to develop the listening skills that will underpin their speaking, reading and writing and enable them to make progress in the target language.
Caroline Hewson – Reading to support creative writing in lower KS2 learners
Starting from enjoying a simple story such as Petits Points Rouges with Y3 and Ours Brun with Y4, Caroline will share some of the follow-up activities that have enabled her young lower KS2 learners to become authors and write their own creative mini-book versions of these engaging stories.
These meetings are free for ALL members. Recordings are made of the presentations and are available in the password area of the Primary Zone on the ALL website. However, please join the live event to support the presenters. Book a place for the live event here – www.tinyurl.com/phorum1124
