Celebrate Speaking (1 – 29 February 2024)
The British Council in collaboration with the Association for Language Learning is again running its popular Celebrate Speaking! Festival to celebrate languages in education and community. This year, we are working under the National Consortium for Languages Education umbrella but the festival is open to all schools throughout the UK.
We’re looking for online contributions from young people to our festival of languages during February. We are encouraging teachers to post a short film of their students speaking in a language other than English on X (formerly Twitter). Throughout the month, the British Council and Association for Language Learning will like and share these posts. In early March, our language partners will pick their favourite entries to join an online celebration event.
Our aim for this project is for students to practise and share a language that they enjoy learning in the classroom or speaking in their community. We want them to feel confident delivering a performance; it is a celebration, not a competition!
