Would you like to learn more about the Language Futures approach?
Language Futures is a highly innovative and creative approach to language teaching and learning. It is being used by both primary and secondary schools to:
- Create independent and creative language learners.
- Broaden languages provision.
- Promote and celebrate linguistic diversity.
At Linton Village College, Year 9 students are offered the chance to study a language of their choice using the latest software, digital media and technology. Volunteer language experts recruited from the local community work alongside students as mentors to support their language learning. Currently, Language Futures students are learning Italian, Mandarin, Russian, Japanese, Swedish, German and Greek. This engaging and interactive approach personalises the curriculum for each student, providing them with life-long applied learning skills. Language Futures is creatively transforming the role of teacher from language expert to facilitator and guide with students ‘Learning to learn’, the ultimate goal.
This session will be an opportunity to see the approach in action and to learn from experienced Language Futures practitioners. You will have the opportunity to observe a Language Futures lesson and a Question & Answer session will help you to judge your school’s readiness to launch the approach against its core features.
