Language World 1993 returned to UMIST in Manchester, 2-5 April 1993.

Talks included:
• How to use drama techniques in language learning, Margaret Anderson, Dr Bell’s Drama Centre, Edinburgh;
• How to organise programmes of visits abroad, Martin Ash, Modern Languages Inspector, Gloucester;
• How to find, make and organise language revision games for all class sizes and age groups, Hilary Walton, Walton Language Training, Halifax;
• A song for Europe – language awareness through song, words and music in the creative classroom, Stewart Collins, singer, broadcaster and former member of vocal group Cantible; and
• Local management of funds and the language department, Eileen Holly, Countesthorpe College, Leicester.
Also in April 1993, The Bluebells were ‘Young at Heart’, and CERN announced that the World Wide Web would be royalty free, and available for all.
