by Ellie Johnson. This paper explores and tests strategies for aiding the success of learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder in the Modern Languages classroom. The ‘triad of impairment’ has long been used to describe the characteristics of learners with ASD. This paper suggests that we need to shift towards the idea of a ‘triad of opportunity’ in order to make the most of these learners’ huge potential to succeed.
