ALL Connect is a Department for Education funded project providing CPD for teachers in KS2 and KS3 to support the new programmes of study at Key Stages 2 and 3.

Brand new resources launched at LW2016:

ALL Connect KS2 Language Co-ordinator’s Handbook: The Handbook has been designed specifically for KS2 Language Co-ordinators in primary schools. It sets out the expectations of the role of Language Co-ordinator, and aims to provide guidance, sample documentation and templates to support their work. The Handbook is freely available online.

ALL Connect KS2-3 Transition Toolkit: The Toolkit is a practical, useful guide containing a set of ‘tools’ (ideas, strategies and resources), designed to inform the process of transition in language teaching and learning between KS2 and KS3. The Toolkit is freely available online.

Existing resources:

ALL Connect has already developed training modules for language teachers on major curriculum themes which are available via the ALL Connect Blog:

Key Stage 2 Key Stage 3
KS2 Grammar KS3 Literature
KS2 Speaking KS3 Spontaneous Speaking
KS2 Writing KS3 Translation
KS2 Progression KS3 Grammar
KS2-3 Transition KS3 Extended Writing

ALL Connect Wikis:

The ALL Connect team has also created four interactive project wikis, to accompany our existing wiki on Literature. These are connected to the ALL Connect Blog, and allow teachers to upload examples of their own resources for each module, as well as providing further support materials for colleagues in KS2 and KS3:

ALL Literature Wiki
ALL Grammar Wiki
ALL Speaking Wiki
ALL Writing & Translation Wiki
ALL Progression & Transition Wiki

The ALL Connect wikis are also intended as a standalone resources for any teacher to use, so have a look and please contribute!

ALL Connect training courses:

ALL Connect has been delivering face-to-face training in three regions (the East, North East and North Midlands). Training in the existing 10 modules, and the two newly developed modules, is continuing – and has expanded into new areas: the southern part of the North East region, the Midlands region - Northamptonshire (KS2&3) and Leicestershire (KS3), and Yorkshire (KS3) – so entirely new groups of teachers are benefitting from the project. Good news also for teachers in the Eastern Region, who attended last year’s ALL Connect taught programme at KS2/3 - in this region there will be opportunities to attend training workshops on the KS2/3 Transition Toolkit and KS2 Co-ordinator’s Handbook.

These events are listed on ALL’s website, so keep a look out!

Supporting languages education:

All of the materials developed by the ALL Connect project are freely available for any teacher to use. They must not be used for commercial reasons such as training sessions where attendees are charged a delegate fee by a trainer/training organisation. They may not be used without acknowledgement of the original source.

If you are using them outside of one of our ALL Connect regions we would be very interested to hear from you, as it is of particular interest to us to know about coverage. Please email [email protected] to let us know.
