Around the world teachers are exploring the motivational impact on learning that can be stimulated by combining interesting and diverse subject content with learning another language. The developments take all sorts of forms, from small- to large-scale and involve a range of curriculum areas. In Europe the CLIL approach is taken quite widely and ALL is currently involved in the Erasmus+ project ELAPSE which will share inspiration with British teachers (at Language World).
To monitor and bring together information about ongoing CLIL work, ALL has recently established a new Steering Group which will have its first meeting soon to decide on activity. One specific current initiative our members are invited to engage with comes from our colleagues in Australia. You can read more in CLIL SIG Introduction 2019.
ALL has, of course, hosted a CLIL Special Interest Group before, chaired by previous President Kathy Wicksteed, in whose memory we are planning a publication in 2020.
