Tuesday 05 November:

The government has today announced a review of GCSE modern foreign languages content in order to increase their accessibility.  This is following an announcement by Ofqual of the decision to make an adjustment in the grading standards for GCSE French and German from June 2020 to align these subjects with GCSE Spanish.

‘We welcome the review which is needed to make sure that content of the GCSE is engaging, relevant to young people, accessible to all and that it is assessed in a fair, valid and reliable way. We look forward to providing evidence from our membership to the panel.’

Jane Harvey, ALL President.
