A second round of applications for the Returners Engagement Programme pilot in the north-west and south-east of England went live on Friday 27 January 2017.
This programme is aimed at providing training and employment for former teachers wishing to return to the profession in physics, maths and MFL.
Applications will close at 5pm, on Monday 20 February.
More details can be found below:
- The programme will be run on a cohort basis. Schools will provide support to individuals across 2-4 weeks in May
- Return to Teaching Advisors will assess the suitability of registrants to these subjects, and the most suitable potential returners will be shared with lead schools or partnerships
- These individuals will be assessed by the school, who will then provide a placement for each successful individual. This should include classroom and teaching experience, subject-specific training and support in any other areas required by each returner.
Funding available for all participating partnerships / networks:
o Start-up funding for pilot leads of £2000
o Additional funding per cohort
o Post-employment payment for each employed returner of £1500
o Additional payment for finding part-time employment (south-east only)
o Bursary for returners of up to £600
The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) keen for schools in the north-west and south-east to apply as partnerships for this programme.
