The Summer 2018 edition is entitled ‘Word Power’ and in it we share a plethora of ways to encourage pupils to not only write, but to enjoy writing. Amongst the highlights are articles by Vincent Everett, who shows us how to equip students to write creatively and succeed in the new GCSE by using football as a hook (page 26); Lisa Probert explains how she put together a whole-school poetry competition to inspire pupils to try something new by reading and writing poems (page 22); and David Shanks and Susi Sahmland, who demonstrate their tried-and-tested ideas for motivating students to produce their best writing (page 14).  Our regular feature, My Best 10 (page 20), offers tips for creative writing. We also give you food for thought with the Goethe-Institut’s Debating Competition, an idea you might like to try next academic year (page 28), and an insight into a Day in the Life of John Rolfe MBE, the British Council’s Schools Outreach Manager (page 16).
